The GORE-TEX membrane is the core of GORE-TEX products. It is durable, waterproof, absolutely windproof and very breathable. The result:

water from the outside cannot penetrate
wind is kept away
sweat can easily escape to the outside

By these means, the body is kept constantly dry, comfortable and warm with GORE-TEX products.

These pores are around 20.990 times smaller than a water molecule, however 700 times bigger than a water vapour molecule. An oil repellent layer at the membrane ensures durable water resistance and prevents that body oils or insect repellent from penetrating the membrane.

Every product carrying the GORE-TEX logo is guaranteed to fulfill the above criteria.

3-Layer Construction

GORE-TEX 3-Layer Technology is an extremly light, space-saving material, which packs down far smaller than regular GORE-TEX clothing, in order to be stowed easily in a tank bag, rucksack or bag. GORE-TEX 3-Layer Technology clothing is extremely breathable, totally waterproof, fully windproof and super light. GORE-TEX 3-Layer Technology clothing consists of a GORE-TEX membrane which is laminated with a special coating. A seperate 3-Layer GORE-TEX jacket or pants is made out of this material. Together with an outer jacket and pants a special combination is created. The essential comfort advantages:

fast reaction to sudden change in weather as the 3-Layer GORE-TEX jacket/pants can be dressed easily over the outer clothing
flexible use of the membrane in cold or hot weather
direct ventilation of the body when using the outer jacket/pants solo
low weight and pack size of the 3-Layer GORE-TEX products

Garments made with GORE-TEX 3-layer fabric offer added durability without extra bulk. The reduced layers required mean less weight and more freedom of movement. Aspecial GORE-TEX membrane is bonded to a wide range of outer materials an a backer on the inside to form a single fabric.

Z-liner Construction

GORE-TEX products with Z-Liner ensures ambitious touring motorcyclists high comfort in all weather conditions by optimal breathability and durable water and wind density.

It is generally used in a 'Z-liner' construction, which involves the GORE-TEX membrane being bonded to a lightweight carrier fabric and then being freely suspended between the outer material and lining of the garment. This enables an attractive and also functional design of the garment. This membrane construction has essential comfort advantages:

good heat insulation between the layers due to air cell
high wearing comfort and soft grip due to separate, consecutively lying material layers
integrated air-vent zipper in the outer material arrange an optimal balance of temperature

Garments made with GORE-TEX Z-liner constructions offer excellent comfort in a wide range of styles. In this construction a GORE-TEX membrane is bonded to a lightweight fabric. This Z-liner is then freely suspended between the outer fabric and the lining. Z-liner GORE-TEX products have fewer sealed seams, allowing for more freedom in the deign process. Z-liner constructions can be combined with insulation.
